I chose to do my masters degree dissertation on the fascination with the extraterrestrial. I had the pleasure to work on how we, as humans, see, understand, reflect and connect to space.
During my research, I found there are two ways of exploring this. One is within the prism of rationality where we try to explain every event with equations and laws.
The other one is much older: imagination. Since the beginning of human history, there has been stories about the constellations and space phenomena. Nowadays, science fiction about space exploration and extraterrestrial life is mainstream.
I was interested in the meeting of both of these concepts, and how their interaction could benefit both space exploration and understanding.
This led me to decide upon my diploma project topic: Astronomy.
